When a sensitive poet, a great composer/composers and an amazing singer got together, they produced versatile music at its best. There wasn’t a genre they have not touched or an actor they haven’t created songs for.
Whether it was a philosophical song like, “Nanne munne tere mutt hi mein” in Boot Polish, a motivational song like, “Main gawoon tum so jawo ” from Brahmachari, a sentimental song like. “Yaad na jaye” from Dil Ek Mandir, a romantic song like, “Main cheli main cheli” from Professor or a boisterous number like, “Chahe koyi mujhe junglee kahe,” for Junglee, SJ, Shailendra and Rafi churned out super hit songs, one after another, all through the Golden Era of Hindi Film Music. For decades, this combination made memorable music that is heard and sung to this day.
All the top actors of the time, including Shammi Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Manoj Kumar and Jeetendra, among others, have had their best songs created by this combination.
Seen in the picture below are Rafi, Shailendra and Shankar rehearsing, “Main gawoon tum so jao” for Brahmachari that won a Filmfare Award.
